Senior Portraits Oregon WI – Karina

Karina’s senior portrait session started in downtown Madison near the Capital, moved over to the Monona Terrace, then off to Collectivo on Monroe St and finally a mad dash out to the Epic Farm for some gorgeous sunset shots. Karina, Mom and older sister Anika were all troopers throughout. And we even got some shots with the dogs at the very end! Thanks for an amazing photoshoot Karina! We had a blast! Dave and Jen 🙂

Senior pictures Madison WI – Jacob

Downtown Madison was the backdrop for our senior portrait session with Jacob, a 3-sport varsity athlete from Lodi High School. We loved wandering around the city with Jacob and were lucky enough to have his girlfriend Mandy along to help crack him up! Thanks for a fun senior photoshoot!

Senior Pictures Madison WI – Memorial Union Terrace

Alondra wanted her senior pictures down on the Memorial Union Terrace and we thought it was a great idea. The terrace offers multiple shooting environments for senior photos all in one location. Lake Mendota, many piers, union chairs and tables, and some cool urban backdrops as well. It was a great day and we love how Alondra’s photos turned out.

Wedding Photographer Madison WI – Cat and Andy

We couldn’t have had a better location to compliment our latest senior pictures photoshoot. The arboretum provided the perfect backdrop for our stunning senior, Maria, a student at Madison West High School. The whole vibe lent itself to some beautiful vintage feeling photos. Thanks to Maria and Mom for a magical late afternoon off Monroe St.

Senior Pictures Madison WI – Henry

What a great time we had photographing Henry’s senior pictures at one of our favorite locations, Pope Farm Park off Old Sauk Rd in Middleton. And another first, taking a break to shave half-way through the session so Henry could have a clean face for some formal suit and tie pics! Beard or clean-shaven we love how Henry’s senior portraits turned out.

Senior portrait make-up ideas – Studio Indigo Photography Madison

In our second blog post with our favorite stylist Nicole of hybrid salon, it’s all about makeup. Interested in current hair trends, check out the first post.

Current make-up trends

“Makeup trends right now are very natural. Some of it is still like smoky-eyes but you always want to feel comfortable in what you’re doing. You don’t want to look at those pictures and not feel like yourself. So it’s a glammed up you. Not over the top, just enhancing what you have.”

“Some girls now are going more bare-face but one thing you could do are eyebrows. So filling in eyebrows with some eyeshadow or an eyebrow pencil to make them fuller. A lot of girls don’t realize that and I’ll do a light treatment so they can see how it looks. It really makes the eyebrows pop and it makes the whole face look put-together or finished.”

Make-up must haves

If Nicole had to pick 4 things to focus on it would be a good foundation or powder, mascara, a good brow tint and eyeliner.

“Extra stuff you can do are fun eye shadows, lip colors or lip gloss if they’re not wanting to go with lipstick.”

If you decide to do a lipstick Nicole recommends bringing the lipstick to the shoot so you can touch-up if necessary. “The other thing I would recommend bringing is powder. So if they feel like they’re getting too shiny they can touch up with some powder. I like to use brushes with bristles, but whatever the powder comes with is fine. Just a little on the nose and forehead.”

What’s the appointment like?

“We start with a consultation and I like to look at pictures to get an idea of what the client wants. If we’re doing hair and makeup, I’ll usually start with hair. We’ll then move over to the make-up station and have a second consultation on the make-up.”

“It’s nice to get pampered and take a little bit of the stress off for that day. And if you’re not sure what to do it’s nice to talk with someone who knows what to do with your hair or makeup. It’s stress-free and fun, you can bring a friend, and we’re a fun environment at Hybrid. And it’s this little thing, hair and makeup, but it can really make you feel more confident.”

Model Senior Portrait Photoshoot – Madison: Studio Indigo Photography

This location had everything we could want for an urban senior portrait shoot; Brick walls, old buildings with lots of texture, rusted out stairs, train tracks and why not, a food truck! We photographed Mariah at Union Station in St Louis as part of a fashion, urban senior portrait photoshoot. And don’t worry…this station is no longer operating so we were 100% safe when on the tracks.

We love brick walls for backgrounds. We usually like them to have a little more texture and wear and tear then this one, but it’s still a cool looking senior portrait. Mariah’s eyes just pop off the screen and the cross processed effect creates a grungy, urban, cool senior picture. We photographed Mariah for a fashion senior portrait model shoot in St Louis.

This senior portrait was processed with this trendy, vintage slide film cross processed effect using Alienskin Exposure 7. I made the shadows a little cooler than normal and I like the effect.
